To fulfill her passion with lamps, Frida Harahap decided to quit the job in Advertising Agency and started to build Lamphilosophy.

The Creator

It all began from her longtime passion with lamps. Frida Harahap started collecting decorating lamps since childhood, and it was one of her biggest dreams to design her own lamps and run a lamp gallery. For her, a beautiful lamp is a piece of an artwork that creates lighting and ambience at the same time. As a painter can express her feelings through canvas, for Frida through a lamp her soul can speak. Her works as the lamp designer and her hobby to write poetry is the birth of Lamphilosophy.

Such an achievement placed Frida on the list of Femina's Female Entrepreneur Awards finalist in 2010. She was also a finalist in the British Council's International Young Creative Entrepreneur competition in 2012. And in 2014 she was awarded as Most Promising Women Entrepreneur by IndiHome Telkomsel.

The Story

To fulfill her passion, Frida decided to quit the job in Advertising Agency and started to build lamp business named CahayaLampu in 2004. The love of seeing the light in lamp that makes her named the business CahayaLampu (Lamp's Light). The gallery began from a small shop that can only fit for four people, but now it is located to a bigger space in Kemang Timur, South Jakarta. Having no design background, lacking in confidence was an issue at the beginning of her lamp business. However, the joy, the excitement and the freedom to do what she loves just eliminate all the obstacles. Now having the birth of Lamphilosophy in her business lamp bring tremendous excitement in her life journey.
